Smokey comparing cone filling tools in Skyline's pink smoke accessory laboratory

Cone Filler Buying Guide: 2, 6, 25, 34 or 76 Cones?

Short answer: choose a one- or two-cone filler for occasional personal use, a six-cone tool for small repeat batches, a 25- or 34-cone bump box for regular bulk preparation, and a 76-cone box only when high throughput justifies the extra size and cost. Cone size matters as much as capacity: a King Size tool will not automatically fit 1¼ cones.

This guide compares the capacities and formats currently listed by Skyline. It does not assume that every cone works in every filling tool.

Cone filling tools progressing from single-cone holders to large bulk bump boxes

Cone filler capacity comparison

Tool Listed capacity Best for Size warning
RAW Double Shot 1 or 2 cones Pocket use and small batches King Size
RAW Six Shooter 1, 2, 3 or 6 cones Flexible home batches King Size
The OG Co Kingsize Bump Box 25 cones Budget bulk preparation King Size
Buddies Bump Box Up to 34 cones Frequent medium bulk batches Separate 1¼ and King variants
Bamboo Buddies Bump Box Up to 76 cones Highest-volume manual batches Separate 1¼ and King variants

Capacity is not a quality score. A large box is inefficient if you normally prepare two cones, while a pocket tool becomes repetitive if every session requires several dozen.

Shorter 1¼ cone and longer king-size cone beside differently sized filling openings

Check cone size before choosing the machine

The filler must support the cone’s length, taper and filter-end diameter. Skyline’s listings separate King Size and 1¼ versions where the manufacturer offers them.

  • 1¼: shorter everyday cone format; choose a filler explicitly listed for 1¼.
  • King Size: longer cone format; supported by the Double Shot, Six Shooter and OG Co Kingsize box listed above.
  • Lean or specialist shapes: similar length does not guarantee the taper or opening fits. Check the tool description.

For paper and cone dimensions, start with Skyline’s rolling paper size guide. Browse compatible pre-rolled cones and bulk cones alongside the tool rather than shopping by capacity alone.

Coarse, medium and overly fine legal dried herb textures prepared for comparison

Preparation matters more than aggressive packing

A filling tool distributes material; it does not fix unsuitable texture or moisture. Very coarse pieces can bridge over openings and leave gaps. Powdery material can compact too tightly and restrict airflow. An even, medium texture is usually easier to distribute consistently.

  1. Work only with legal smoking herbs and a clean, dry preparation surface.
  2. Break up large pieces evenly without reducing everything to dust.
  3. Remove hard stems or debris that can tear paper.
  4. Spread material across every opening before tamping.
  5. Use gentle settling or tapping; do not force material into the paper.

Consistency is safer and more repeatable than trying to maximise the amount in each cone.

Which cone filler should you buy?

Occasional use: one or two cones

The RAW Double Shot is compact and doubles as storage. It is the practical answer when portability matters more than speed.

Flexible small batches: up to six

The RAW Six Shooter can be set for one, two, three or six King Size cones. It avoids the unused space of a bulk box while still speeding up repeat preparation.

Best budget bulk option: 25 cones

The OG Co Kingsize Bump Box offers a meaningful capacity jump at a lower listed price than Skyline’s larger Buddies boxes. It is limited to King Size cones.

Frequent batches: 34 cones

The Buddies Bump Box is available in 1¼ and King variants. Choose the version that matches the cones you already buy.

Highest manual capacity: 76 cones

The Bamboo Buddies Bump Box suits genuinely high-volume preparation. Its price and footprint make sense only when its capacity will be used regularly.

Frequently asked questions

Will a King Size filler work with 1¼ cones?

Do not assume so. Length, taper and holder depth differ. Buy the version explicitly listed for the cone size.

Is a larger bump box always faster?

Only when you fill enough cones to use the capacity. Setup and cleanup can make a large box slower for tiny batches.

Why do cones fill unevenly?

Common causes include inconsistent texture, incomplete spreading, over-tamping and using cones that do not match the holder.

Can I wash a cone filler?

Follow the material-specific instructions. Remove dry debris first and avoid soaking bamboo, electronics or components not designed for water.
